The Talented
Global Fashions on One World Stage

'Behind The Scenes' Team

Robin Adams, Founder/Director/Producer

Picture
Robin founded Global Fashions on One World Stage in 2010. Always interested in cultures, travel and languages, she was a volunteer with the Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Center Society (VIRCS) from 2008 to 2011 and also served as a member of the Board of Directors. In 2009 she taught ESL in a small community outside of Madrid, Spain and in December 2010 through January 2011 she volunteered at the Home of Hope Orphanage in Cape Town, South Africa. She was also a Board member of the African AIDS Angels Society in 2010/11.
A fourth generation Canadian, Robin was born and raised in Victoria, B.C. She overcame many obstacles and difficulties in her life and is happy to give back and help others overcome theirs. She works full time in medical regulation and loves living in Victoria.

Ethan Smith, Show Coordinator

Picture
Ethan Smith is the long time best friend of the producer/director; Robin Adams. Ethan helps coordinate the Global Fashions models/performers at rehearsals and backstage. Ethan comes from a background in fashion, design and hospitality which is the ideal skill set for dealing with such a big and elaborate show as Global Fashions. Having experience being at large fashion shows in New York and being a former model himself, Ethan is immensely helpful to our models who are not familiar with the stage. As he helps with everything from posing and walking to costume changes and stress management, this show couldn't go on without Ethan. He is currently studying pre-med at Camosun College. Ethan and Robin were visiting Banff and dog sledding in Lake Louise, Alberta when Robin came up with the idea for the show and asked Ethan to help her. The rest, as they say, is history.

Ocean Lu, Chinese Performing Arts Choreographer

Picture

Ocean is the only choreographer for Chinese performing arts for Global Fashions on One World Stage. Her personal ties to immigration, celebration of diverse forms of beauty and dedication to the art of performance and entertaining make her a perfect fit for our cast. Ocean owns and operates the Ocean Rain Chinese Arts Academy, which is so far the only professional Chinese dance and performing arts institute in Greater Victoria. Since founded in the summer of 2008, they offer a wide range of programs, such as Chinese dance (following Beijing Dance Academy syllabus), Vocal music, Chinese instrument and brush painting classes.

Ocean and her sister Rain Lu are professionally-trained Chinese ethnic and classical dancers, who have many years of professional training and experience in performing, teaching and choreography. Ocean and Rain are very devoted to promoting Chinese dance art, and are very determined to introduce the real beauty of Chinese performing arts.
